winter citrus salad welcomes the new year

A salad plate with greens, orange and grapefruit sections, avocado slices, pomegranate seeds and pinenuts. Lemon poppy seed dressing in a jar and cut citrus fruits in the background.

January resolutions include more salads in my diet. Citrus fruit brightens up a salad in the cold season and this winter citrus salad combo of oranges, grapefruits, pomegranates and avocados satisfies my yearning for crisp greens, tangy and sweet fruit with a lemon poppy seed dressing that marries all the flavors well. I think you could describe this festive looking dish as a party on a plate.
